Anyone know Dreamweaver...?

Hey all!

To my fellow Americans, I hope you had an awesome 4th of July and honored your country by blowing up a part of it! To my international friends... I hope you had an awesome Saturday! :D

Okay, so, I'm going to try to learn Dreamweaver this summer to make a personal website that also features my side projects - one of which will also appear here on deviantART very soon! Does anyone have some good advice about how to get started? I guess the obvious way is to tinker with it the same way I learned Photoshop, but I need a decent website running within a few months. Is there a certain good book out there, or a website that has good tutorials or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :worship:

 KL

I know ^^
I learned Dreamweaver from the self software tutorials located on "help". My advise is to forget PHP or any other tecnology from the start. Focus only on HTML.

Dreamweaver it's a very complex software that makes simple things get awkward. It sucks and I don't recommend it for beginners.
I suggest you to learn HTML from scratch and PHP if you have more free time left, PHP it's such a powerful language and can be used to create whatever you want. Oh, and CSS should be useful too.
I use Dreamweaver or Frontpage to test mi coding only.
That's all my advice =)

If you wanna know more about the uses and differences between HTML, PHP and CSS, ask anytime.

See ya, Lilly.

Heh, nice! :)
I learned how to use Dreamweaver on my University course (though I had a rough idea before, from using a very old version) - I had tinkered with HTML before that.
Maybe it would be worth your while to experiment a bit and learn the HTML source-code yourself.
Whenever I've been doing any web-work of late, I tend to pay more attention to the HTML than the actual page-preview - though it's useful to be able to see that too.
It's probably because (since I've been using dA) I've tried to learn CSS too, and Dreamweaver doesn't always give an accurate preview of how the page looks (my version, anyway). I find it best to save the page and open Explorer or Firefox for an accurate WIP preview.

What is Dreamweaver? Is it some program like openCanvas &/or Photoshop? :?

The tutorials? That's it? Awesome! I'm a little familiar with HTML... thanks so much for the advice! :D

But there’s no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Well, I do know Photoshop... so I'm used to Adobe's complicatedness... and I want my website to be fancier than just basic HTML. But maybe I'll find early on that I'm biting off more than I can chew, lol. I'll have to look more into PHP - I don't know much about it at all. Thanks for the advice! :-)

It's an Adobe program in the same set as Photoshop and Indesign and like a million others, but its for web design. ^^
