KIRIBAN

First of all, :iconbsuvincent: won my 50,000 kiriban contest! I meant to post it WEEKS ago but have been sooo busy!!! @_@ Anyway, his idea for the prize is really cool, and SatAM related! Hopefully I'll get around to starting soon.... >_>;

THE DEBATE!!!

On to business!!! I have often debated people about the respective meanings on geek, nerd, and dork. The history of the debate is actually quite fascinating. It reportedly began in 46 BC when Julius Caesar, according to historical documents, called Cassius a "nerdious maximus" and Brutus a "dorkus malorkus." Outraged, the two quarreled as to which was the greater insult, but then of course settled their dispute by assassinating Caesar in 44 BC.

Anyway, these are the definitions that I for one stand by:
Nerd: someone who does nerdy things (programming, gaming, fanfiction, memorizing digits of pi, quoting Star Trek, etc...) and has trouble relating to non-nerdy people (or any people, in some cases).
Geek: someone who does nerdy things but CAN relate to other people.
Dork: Someone who doesn't do nerdy things, but has trouble relating to other people.

An alternate definition I've heard is:
Nerd: someone who does nerdy things and doesn't go to parties.
Geek: someone who does nerdy things but DOES go to parties.
Dork: Someone who DOESN't do nerdy things, DOES go to parties, but someone gives them a wedgie.

Thus, I consider myself a geek because I do nerdy things but am still pretty outgoing. In fact, people are usually surprised when they find out how shockingly geeky I am! But my boyfriend contends the opposite argument. He's EXTREMELY nerdy (a computer science major who can literally think in code), yet he's very personable. So I call him a geek but he insists he's a nerd.

So what do you guys think? :B

Today's my 22nd birthday! I found a website [link] that told me that I'm 8,036 days old, which is kind of scary. And somehow 22 is not as exciting as turning 21. Oh well, it's still gonna be fun!

Poetry Generator Fun!

I StumbledUpon (or StumbleUponed...?) a website with 50 tools to help your writing, and one of them was a poetry generator! The first poem it created was this little gem, which - except for a few weird phrases - actually struck me as a pretty good poem!

Sinful and sensuous within the gods
You confound violet fragments against the clouds
Bizarre! The thought never ends
I am flying over the gods
I battle odorous dogs below the sea
Alass, Alack! The day is no more
Sinful and violet over the dream
I battle cold animals over the ground
Way cool! The evil is no more
clouded fighting back
blurring at the edges
a ticking clock
With what regrets
the victim
wander aimlessly
and find road-signs

After some more clicking and generating I came across another remarkably coherent poem:

Weird and black under the land
I prod bright snares beneath the ground
Beware! The twilight is born
Weird and transparent under the gods
I divine quiet tentacles within the light
Word! The feeling will come again
Evil and poisonous before the earth
I feel damp noses beyond the sea
I reach! The fun is gone
scared hesitant
walking out of the world
something missing
From what country
the lost man
go without luggage
and never catch up

So go to [link] try it out, and comment with either a really good or really bizarre poem!

Buuhhhhh.... yesterday I moved back to Indy after a summer in Kansas City... even though my boyfriend and my apartment was tiny, it was still a huge hassle! 9_9

Then after all the moving out shenanigans we had to drive 7 and a half hours back to Indiana.

...And in a week I have to move a giant U-haul of stuff to our new apartment at my university....

:faint:

KL out
